Access, Responsibility & Communication

Large design issues are usually transparent. Unlike the form of most designs, which is apparent and explained away by philosophical treatise, humanistic issues are essentially transparent. Unseen, until they block, obstruct, interfere with or confound the user. Most designs appear benevolent, yet to some they create obstacles that prevent enjoyment. |
We teach the communication of ideas, through whatever means is appropriate, in order to stimulate dialogue, between the client, manufacturer and user. Industrial Design is no longer just about industry, it is an extremely complicated process driven by an even more complicated set of mores, values, ethics and moral issues. Not to mention the even more complicated existent set of esthetic value systems.

It is the responsibility of everyone to ensure that our plant is safe, secure and fundamentally sound as we pass it on to our children. Without a change in habits, economic, social and environmental, we will have beautiful buildings, beautiful interiors, and beautiful chairs with no one to inhabit, work in or sit on them!
