It's about Everything! 

Milton Glaser’s iconic I  NY was an immediate success because it stated the simplest idea in the simplest way. The “I” makes you state something before you even know what you are stating, the  icon reads clearly, since we associate it with love, and the abbreviated NY makes us interpret and say New York in our head. We immediately LOVE New York!
